11 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 11 weeks
Size of baby: small lime
Total Weight Gain/Loss: gained 1 pound (lost 2 since last visit)
Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing my regular clothes with the belly band and a few maternity clothes that were size small from Emmie
Gender: ???
Movement: none...it's way too early!
Sleep: sleeping a little better
What I miss: a full night's sleep without having to wake up to pee
Cravings:  firecracker Popsicles, Quiznos
Symptoms: my nausea has gotten way better but it is still there from time to time and I can't really pinpoint anything that brings it on.
Best Moment this week: Going to a family baby shower and getting really excited about this baby!

I had to do a 24 hour urine test and had a MAJOR traumatic blood draw this morning.  If you know me then you know how much I hate needles, specifically blood draws (shots don't bother me and blood doesn't bother me).  I thought I had somewhat gotten over this fear from the last pregnancy because I was such a trooper the whole time...and trust me I was poked a lot.  However, this morning the nurse didn't tell me how much blood she was drawing (because she knows I freak out) and it took forever and I have a nice little bruise and sore arm.  It was seriously 6 or 7 vials.    at 8 am.  before breakfast.  I survived!

Week 10

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 10 weeks
Size of baby: size of a prune
Total Weight Gain/Loss: gained 1 pound (lost 2 since last visit)
Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing my regular clothes with the belly band and a few maternity clothes that were size small from Emmie
Gender: ???
Movement: none...it's way too early!
Sleep: sleeping a little better
What I miss: caffeine...I really miss diet soft drinks and coffee
Cravings:  firecracker Popsicles...I have at least 2 a night
Symptoms: heartburn is the newest symptom.  I feel much better in regards to nausea but still have mornings where I don't feel well
Best Moment this week: I had my first OB appointment today and it went really well.  My doctor was able to hear the heartbeat with the doppler even though she said it was technically too early.  It was 160.  I also had to have an exam and bloodwork and I'm thankful I survived the appointment!  It was a rough one.

Week 8

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 8 weeks!
Size of baby: size of a kidney bean
Total Weight Gain/Loss: gained 3 pounds...ugh
Maternity Clothes: I broke out a few maternity shirts and thank goodness they are still too big!
Gender: ???
Movement: none...it's way too early!
Sleep: sleeping a little better
What I miss: caffeine...I really miss diet soft drinks and coffee
Cravings:  My cravings this pregnancy have been so strong already...this week it was sushi...I had it twice in a week.  I don't even really like it that much but it was delicious!  (I only ate things that were cooked)
Symptoms: I suffered a pretty serious bout of morning sickness, so much so that I had to have some meds called in.  It seems to have eased up but every time I think it's over it comes back.  It was not like this with Emmie.
Best Moment this week: Going to the doctor this week and hearing the baby's heartbeat!  I am 8 weeks now and the heartbeat was 135.  I am thinking this baby is going to be a boy because I am so big already!

Week 6 or 7?

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 6-7 weeks?
Size of baby: size of an appleseed
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I have actually started eating a little better and my appetite comes and goes so I think I may have lost a pound or 2
Maternity Clothes: none but all of my work pants are tight already..the same thing happened with Emmie
Gender: ???
Movement: none...it's way too early!
Sleep: I sleep well at night and I am sooo exhausted when I get home that I try to take a cat nap if I can..it's not normally possible with a toddler
What I miss: my diet coke!  No joke...I'm so crabby without caffeine
Cravings: KFC-we had it for dinner tonight (and I'm not ashamed!)
Symptoms: Still really tired especially in the afternoons, waves of nausea but no real morning sickness, really bloated...I'm so much bigger already with this pregnancy than I was with Emmie
Best Moment this week: Realizing that I am going to be a mommy to 2 precious babies!  It is still sinking in!

My appointment is April 2nd and I am anxiously waiting to check everything out and see the heartbeat.  Pray for me!

Baby news

Our sweet little girl is going to be a big sister!

It has been a long time since I have posted on this blog and since finding out that we will be expanding our family, I thought it would be a great idea to start documenting the pregnancy so I can remember everything.

I'm somewhere between 5-6 weeks (I think...the doctor won't see me until April)

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 5-6 weeks?
Size of baby: so tiny..the size of a poppyseed
Total Weight Gain/Loss: none yet but if I don't stop eating like a teenage boy I'm going to be as big as a house
Cravings: Chobani yogurt-pineapple and I had a strong craving for girl scout ice cream but I did not give in!
Symptoms: I'm so early in this pregnancy so I don't have very many symptoms at all....mainly just very tired.  I didn't have much morning sickness with my first pregnancy so I'm hoping this one will be the same.
Best Moment this week: Telling all our family and friends the big news and knowing how much love and support we have.  This baby is already so loved!

Please pray for me and for our family as we get through this first trimester.  We found out so early this time so it is a little uneasy until our first appointment.  Also, I have some nervousness because of everything that happened after Emmie was born.  We are praying for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby and I know it is possible because he is the Great Physician!

1 year!

Emmie Lane turned 1 yesterday!  I cannot believe that this time last year I was snuggling a new born baby.  I also cannot believe that Shannon and I were preparing to lead our baby into surgery.  I'm still having a hard time grasping the magnitude of what happened with her and how far we have come since that surgery.  I think back to Ephesians 3:20 and how this verse speaks to me so clearly:

"He is able to do immeasurably more than all we could ask or imagine".  Amen for that!  I feel so blessed and humbled...this verse got me through a lot during that time.

We are planning to celebrate Em's first year of life on Saturday with lots of friends and family.  I can not wait!  I have been party planning for literally 2 months and I want everything to be just perfect for her.  I know that she doesn't know and she won't remember, but I will and I want her to be able to look back and see how loved she is!  She is into everything and is developing quite the personality.  Here's what she's up to:

-walking everywhere
-says "uh-oh", "yes" and "this"
-dancing like a fool
-wears size 12-18 months and size 4 diapers
-eating 3 meals a day plus snacks and still taking 3 bottles (we will be working on the transitition to whole milk in sippys next week...say a prayer!)
-puts her hand to her ear to "answer the phone" when we say hello
-her favorite food is blueberries..she will eat all of them off her plate first
-still only has 2 little teeth
-just got back from her first real vacation at the beach for a whole week

Emmie, we love you so very much!  You are such a blessing to our lives.  I can't wait for you to grow up so I can tell you all about what happened when you first came into our lives.  You are our little miracle!

Love Always, Mommy

Toddler

Well, it's official!  We have a "toddler" in the Rushing household!  Emmie took her first steps on Saturday and I kinda just went right past it because I couldn't believe my eyes.  Sure enough, I stood her up and she just walked to me like she's been doing it since birth.  We are so excited and she is very proud of herself!
